Axicorp, a telecommunications reseller (switchless) started in September 1993. It was sold to Primus Telecom in March 1996 who subsequently formed iPrimus in 1997.
Its General Manager/CEO was Ravi Bhatia who had held senior technical, marketing, and sales leadership positions at Siemens, MCI, and Australia's Overseas Telecommunications Corporation (OTC).
He aligned Primus Telecom with other major rivals including Optus, iiNet and Internode to form the G9 Consortium, later renamed Terria.
It played a major part in challenging Telstra's telecommunications monopoly and setting the groundwork for an open-access wholesale model that eventually defined the National Broadband Network (NBN).
